Having come to a crossroads of recognizing my major depression as a part of me and also fighting to not define myself by this, I have found myself feeling as though I am fitting differently into once familiar spaces. This series, “Performative”, explores how I am attempting to re-establishing myself in my surroundings as well as within myself. My depression stripped me of my identity, forced me to perform emotions rather than feel them, and created an overwhelming sense of numbness in me that is slowly regaining sensation.
